Offertory in D Minor - "For Ellie" (Piano Solo)
Download Includes: PDF of Piano Score
This is a simple piece dedicated to a now-passed, much-loved member of my family: our dog Ellie. She was stubborn and obnoxious, but lovable, playful, and fun. We miss her very much, as you do with pets.
The weekend after her passing, I wrote a short piece as a memorial. The little pattern at the beginning is what we used to call her: Ellie Bean!
The middle section of the piece is written with chord symbols and can be realized ad libitum. The ending, written out, uses the theme of "Oh My Darling Clementine," which is appropriate because of the theme of passing, and also because we would always sing it to her in language we presume she understood: "Ellie Bean" x8.
