Promise (Band and Singer)
I was humming this melody for a few weeks before I decided to do
something about it. The lyrics for the chorus popped into my head first,
and that would serve for the thematic setting of the tune: "a song about
love as commitment rather than a fleeting feeling."
From there, I spoke with GPT4 about some possible lyrical settings for
the verses and used it's suggestions as a rough framework for what
would become the final text. It has been a great "creative co-pilot," and
I'm quite fond of working alongside it as one might with a librettist.
In my head, I figured minimal would suit this tune better, so it is
accompanied only with two guitars, upright bass, and spoons. It
could be played with piano/EP as well.
This song features two instrumental breaks with mixed meter separating
two chunks of verses and choruses. The final chorus is quiet and minimal,
with the upright bass bowing higher up in its register.
Orchestration
Lead Vox - Baritone (Eb4-D3)
Guitar 1 - Nylon String Acoustic
Guitar 2 - Baritone Acoustic (Bb Standard)
Upright Bass
Percussion (Spoons)
