Monkeys Driving Death Machines (Band and Singer)
Download Contains: PDF’s of Full Score and all parts.
This is a comedic, laid back song written for a small combo band and lead vocals. There's no backing vocals written, but they may optionally repeat the last note and slide of each line of the verses one bar later.
In the few years years after I graduated college before jumping into public school teaching, I worked at Music & Arts. I was a travelling instrument salesman, driving from school to school and talking to their music teachers. The Boston area, where I lived at the time, is notorious for it's terrible drivers.
One time when I was driving around, the idea for the chorus hit me. We're all a bunch of idiot "monkeys" driving around in giant-very lethal-hunks of metal that could go catastrophically wrong at any minute. And, looking around, half of the people on the road aren't even paying attention!
I had most of the lyrics and the chords for that right off the bat. The rest of the song would remain unfinished for about a year. Now, here's the result.
This arrangement follows a somewhat standard Popular Song format, making use of the Verse-PreChorus-Chorus--Bridge form, featuring alternating keys for the verses and choruses.
Lead Vox (C3-F4)
Electric Guitar
Electric Guitar 2
